There are a lot of people in this world that need to read this. The pharmacists should really be passing it out to customers whenever they purchase homeopathic medication and certain vitamins. In my experience, once someone latches onto a folk ontology they become almost blind to any sort of logic. They behave as though they will be losing part of themselves if they loosen their grip on a folk ontology. Your well written piece is just the needed medicine to get people to loosen their grip on folk ontologies while remaining open to the existence of phenomena that occur because of sensitive highly aware human beings.

This is really good. I think I'll post it on the James Randi Forum...is that OK? Those guys drive me crazy. Outside of the now defunct 9/11 forum, almost no one is a real scientist or engineer. They bandy around all kinds of psychological terminology in a pseudo-scientific way to show how clever they are. Even the real guys on the 9/11 forum were terrible about this. Talking to these guys is worse than talking to kids. I think you have described this beautifully.
